Zion, IL (OPENPRESS) September 11, 2010 -- S. S. Wilson, who co-wrote the hit films "Short Circuit," “Tremors," "The Wild Wild West" and others, in Los Angeles promoting his novel, "Tucker's Monster," will join a Book Fair panel discussion entitled "FOOD FOR THOUGHT: VAMPIRES, WEREWOLVES & WHY WE LOVE TO BE BITTEN! "

He was invited by panel moderator Del Howison after Wilson's very successful book signing at Howison's popular fantasy book store, Dark Delicacies. Among the many notable attendees at that event were Ron Underwood, director of "Tremors," "City Slickers," and many popular TV shows); Brent Maddock, S.S. Wilson's long-time screenwriting partner; Emmy winning visual effects artist Kevin Kutchaver ("Lost," "Hellboy" "Scooby-Doo" etc.) Emmy winning makeup effects artist John Goowdin (CSI); and noted "Scream Queen" actress Brinke Stevens.

Wilson has written screenplays for Universal, Warner Bros., Tri-Star and more, working with industry greats including Steven Spielberg. He has a long history of turning the familiar into the unexpected. "Short Circuit," side-stepped movie robot clichés in creating the unforgettable Johnny Five. "Tremors" was both an action film and a send-up of 1950s monster movies.

"Tucker's Monster," begun 30 years ago, is his first novel. Set in 1903, it chronicles the fantastic adventures of young zoologist Gerard Whitney when he is hired by wealthy, eccentric cattle rancher, Harold B Tucker, who searches the world for legendary creatures. Wide-eyed Whitney learns about werewolves, mummies, ghosts, and even meets a mad scientist. On a more subtle level, Wilson also pokes ample fun at classic horror movie clichés.

Wilson continues work in Hollywood, but so enjoys his re-discovered literary pursuit ("I get no notes from studio execs!") that he has nearly finished his second novel, "Fraidy Cats."

The panel takes place Sunday, September 26, 2010, from 2:00-2:55 pm. Wilson will also sign copies of "Tucker's Monster" at the Dark Delicacies booth.

S.S. Wilson will be also signing copies of "Tucker's Monster" at Bookfellows/Mystery and Imagination book store Saturday October 16th at 2:00 PM. The book store is located at 236 N Brand Blvd. in Glendale, CA and Nov 5 -7 in Dyersville, Iowa at the National Farm Toy Show at Beckman High School - room 218. He will be doing book signings in the Chicagoland area in November and December. Check www.arealdealproductions.com for the up to date listing of dates, times and locations.
